The great apostasy and the mark of the beast are two strands of an intertwined rope. That makes it necessary to unravel the rope in order to examine each strand independently. Two White Horses, outlines the deception of the end times as describe in the book of Revelation. It compares known attributes of God against what is written about the fake morning star, the Antichrist.
2 TH 2:1 moves from a broad scope portrayed in the book of Revelation to a focused sharper, understanding of the last days of this age. The Antichrist must appear and claim to be God at the temple in Jerusalem. The impact of his appearance will be so profound that the world believes him to be God returned to man. This is the great apostasy, and it will happen before the Seventh Trumpet.
